This means meat and that means protein and fat in the same proportion as meat caught in the wild.

Because cats are carnivores they need protein more than dogs and other pets. They absolutely depend on protein for energy and are essential building blocks of their organs and tissues, including cartilage, tendons, muscles and their hearts. They can also function as enzymes, hormones and antibodies.

So, high-quality, highly digestible protein is a must for every cat! It is especially important for growing kittens and adult cats that are nursing and older cats who are less efficient at converting protein.

A cat’s natural carnivorous diet includes only a small percentage of carbohydrates, as little as 3-5%, mostly in the form of digested plant matter in the stomachs of its prey.

If cats are given greater percentages of carbohydrates they get converted into body fat and promote a sugar/insulin imbalance, leading to a risk of obesity and diabetes.

We need 200ml water daily and we “drink” it almost completely through our food, which means if you’re not careful we will get dehydrated, causing:

• BLADDER INFLAMMATION
• URINARY STONES
• CYSTITIS

Cats, unlike dogs, take the water they need mostly from the food they eat. In this way they feel easily satisfied and they eat only as much as they really need. They do not have an instinct to drink water. 

Some vets warn that insufficient moisture in the diet may increase the risk of crystals or stones in the urinary tract. Cats must urinate enough to dilute solid materials that could otherwise accumulate and form stones. Stones can cause painful, sometimes even life-threatening, urinary tract blockages.

Give your cat wet food.
